I dont have problem with the 1$ surcharge as it will teach people to refill their cards instead of replacing...I see alot of MetroCard littler in the subways....
but killing the Unlimiteds is not right.....the MTA even admits that only a very small portion uses their cards more than 4 times a day...so why even bother.
I dont understand it....

You don't understand it..nobody does..the whole thing is a mess and a beauracratic wasteland. Even if the fare were $5, it would still not be enough because it is set up to fail so they would be crying again very soon. You just got to suck it up and pay it, or move like so many millions have before you, and will after you. Welcome to NY.
I thought the dollar for the new metro card is a good idea because it gets litter off the streets but getting rid of the unlimited metro card is just plain stupid. One of the reasons the mta is having problems is because of fare beaters. If they find a way to stop that then they wont have to raise the rates.
If they are tight on money, then the obvious choice is to get away from unlimited cards. Historically we have never had unlimited access, so with the MTA strapped it makes sense to revoke the unlimited cards. I would prefer keeping them, but if it saves money so be it. It probably should never have been introduced in the first place.

They paid for every fare, although you received one free transfer (bus transfer for example). You rode, you paid...that's the way it should be. The unlimited was a way to get people hooked on the Metrocard, however the MTA cannot afford to keep it.
I use the unlimited because I work ...a lot all over the place not just one borough.
Its lame they keep making cuts, obviously the Board is paying themselves to much and investigation should be done and the city should get involved...the city needs MTA we don't need cars!!
Charge a toll by .35cents to drive your gas guzzler into the city..not people who depend on buses and trains! I mean c'mon!
THIS IS NYC not L.A!
