That documentary is about how NYCHA worked in the 70s/80s, specifically the projects in Brownsville. It's not about the neighborhood in general.

Nice little video. I like that it showed public housing and its residents in a more positive light.... in many discussions they are seen as scum. However this video reminded me about my childhood in public housing when we still had a sense of community unlike any other, even though it was the beginning of the crack epidemic. We also had floor captains, building captains, tenant patrol and older tenants that kept small problems from becoming big ones and they knew how to pressure nycha to get things done.....somewhere in the mid 90's this was all lost. My generation didn't keep this up. Nycha is to blame also. These days theres not even a guarantee that your development will have a community center.... its a shame.
