I tip them $2-3 every time. I live in a building with an elevator and they always have other orders in my building when they come. If I lived in a walk-up I'd tip more.
I give the delivery guy $2 a box. If I get five Fresh Direct boxes, I give a $10 tip.
Wow! If you live in a building with an elevator that is extremely generous. I don't feel so bad for them in my building. They do not come here just for me, as a matter of fact they get tons of business in all the residential buildings close to me. And they get paid like $10 an hour someone told me, so it's not like they get paid like a waiter. I'm sure every time they come in my building they walk away with at least $10 in tips and in a 2 block radius from me at least $50.
They don't do such a great job anyway. As someone mentioned, they're in so much of a hurry sometimes you can barely even tip them. I've had beer bottles get to me broken before, boxes banged up, etc. Sometimes they do not bring me the slip to sign. And they are riding in an air conditioned truck. If I get Jubilee to deliver groceries I tip them more because they are walking.
don't blame the delivery guys blame the company. The guys are just doing what they are told. Work fast and get as many deliveries out as possible with a small delivery team. Sine they get ONLY 10 bucks an hour they deserve tips.

I'm sure they get more than that.
I honestly think they don't expect tips... It says pretty blatantly on every order "You are under no obligation to tip but have the option of providing a nominal tip if you feel that you've received exceptional service."
I tip if I have a few bucks lying around, but I don't feel bad if I don't. They are just as friendly and cheerful either way.
I use them occasionally. I love their rice krispy treats and their egg rolls. Since I live in a walk up, I tip them like $2-5 depending on how much I have at the time.
