Yup just saw it recently on MoviesOnDemand. It is def a good movie. Denzel Wanshington is really good actor. Wonder if they really shot all scenes in NYC...well...Harlem.
The part under the El looked to be in the Bronx.....to me it looked like Jerome ave.

Yeah some parts were def shot in the BX. I thought the same thing. For example the scene where Russle Crow is waiting for someone and he meets those dirty cops who told him to go back to Jersey and next time he decides to come to new York-he better call first...lol...
That movie was shot partly where I live (midtown east), right in front of my building. It was bitterly cold and he took refuge in my lobby, where he chatted up our very happy doorman!
I'm truley shocked! Wait...so just a few scenes wher shot in Harlem??? What a disappoinment....

Yeah I know the scenes you are talking about. One part definitely looked like Jerome by the Fordham Rd 4 stop. There were several scenes that looked like they were shot in the Bronx.

I think part of it is that current Harlem was too nice for what they were looking for. Some of those grittier old New York shots, your only going to get in the Bronx or East Harlem. I recognized some of the stuff they shot in East Harlem.

I tought I saw 176th/183rd street stops. But definitely on Jerome.

Yeah the opening scene is at 135th and Broadway, where the 1 train descends into the street from the 125th El station. the scene where Bumpy dies in the beginning is at 135th and Broadway inside the furniture store. That is a landmark building in Harlem/Hamilton Heights but I forgot the name of it. It is hard to tell nowadays if a Ny movie is really NY. Alot of times they substitute Toronto and fill in the blanks with quick flashes of NY. That was definitely NYC, but if you noticed they put a old school sign reading "8th Avenue" when it was actually Broadway. they also filmed on Lenox, the part where Denzel( Frank Lucas ) blasts that guy in broad day!
South Central you say? Have you ever seen what it is like in the Dominican Republic? Do you know the crime rate over there makes South Central LA look like sesame street? I guess not. Haitians are decapitated and villages burn down over Mod cut: language. Cities riot against the military where civilians and special forces die all the time. Go on youtube and search "huelga en navarrete" and that is only 1 of the many recent killing sprees the governement wages against its own citizens monthly. And you have the audacity to talk about how tough a city in north america is! lol pffff
By the way I'm responding to Uptowns Phinest
