Hellos! My family received a letter from housing authority and they told us that we are in the waiting list for a apartment in the Marlboro neighborhood. I just wanted to ask if its a good neighborhood? We were kind of excited to move but I'm scared the area there might not be that good :T Thanks!

Do you mean the Marlboro Houses on 86th St. I know someone that got jumped in there (although I usually assume the worst with projects). However the surrounding area is solid/nice, I live in walking distance, the Ave U retail strip is pretty good

I live not too far, long walk, short drive. I have rode my bicycle around the area on weekends, looked fine to me. Train is close as is shopping and all that neighborhood stuff.
I have never been at night, so you might want to check it out.
Also everyone has their own idea of what is good and bad.

Well.... Bensonhurst and Gravesend are both decent neighborhoods,
I would think the Marlboro Houses shouldn't be so bad compare to
other projects from other area. But projects are projects, it's
probably going to be a little more rough around the Marlboro houses
than the rest of the neighborhood.

That area is alright, nothing bad really. 86th is very developed with a lot of stores, ave u is also developed with stores going all the way down to like kings plaza. Its a decent area I think but its right by the elevated train so you probbaly hear it.

Marlboro Houses: Is that where Bloomberg is moving all the smokers that live in public housing to?

I used to chill a bit in the Marlboro houses. It's the projects, but it's cool enough to chill around. I personally wouldn't want to live anywhere in the part of BK though. A little out of the way for me.

I've been there a few times....one of the safer NYCHA in Brooklyn. I've seen much worse. And everytime I went it was at night with all my best stuff on. Diamonds and all.
