Viewing Queens Village as a possible place to buy a house. We are a family of four, one boy in middle school. Any comments about this neighborhood? My wife wants to care for children at home during the day. How practical is this? Thanks for any input.

If you are sending your son to public school, you want a house that enables you to go to a school in District 26. For high school, I would highly recommend you budget for Catholic/private, of which there are many excellent ones around.

QV is a nice, middle class neighborhood. Very diverse.

ITA w Wes. Catholic will run you from 3500-4500 depending upon if you attend a Catholic church. There are plenty of people who do not, they just understand they will pay more. But still very reasonalbe to what is charged for the chi chi privates in Manhattan (and even in Queens)

Thanks for the input. Actually our older son is in H.S. in Manhattan, where we live now, and our younger boy would attend the local public school in QV. The issue is, that my wife wants to be a stay at home mom and provide child care services at home, for other parents. Thanks again for any insight you may provide.

You might want to do some research on what is considered "daycare" if you are caring for children in your home, and what the legal requirements are to be a legal daycare.

Some sections of Queens Village are very nice, but other sections can be sketchy at night. I don't think the schools there are very good, but I know Bayside isn't far so you can send your kids to a school around there.
