Liberal propaganda?
Sorry, your post is a awful list of NRA bullsh... sorry... NRA propaganda
You still miss a point: USA's homicide rate is still FOUR times higher than Western Europe, Australia and Canada.
Period.
And I'm still waiting for an explanation about the HIGH homicide rate of NRA utopias such as Louisiana, Mississippi, Arizona, by far higher than UK ... Also, how are gun laws working for New Orleans?

The bottom line is this:

Do you feel safer knowing that everyone is carrying a gun around you, or do you feel safer knowing NOBODY is carrying a gun around you? Yes the cops and criminals will have guns..the question is..do you want everyone to? When you are crowded onto the 6 train..do you feel safer knowing everyone has a gun? Me neither.

And using their logic that more guns = more safety...we should then have all countries have nuclear weapons because somehow that will make us all safer! Yikes! And what happens when everyone has a gun..it basically means nothing since we all have one...so now people have to set the bar higher and carry grenades too! Yes that will make us even safer!

If you feel you need to carry a gun with you to shop at Wal-Mart or eat at Chile's...you have serious issues you need to deal with...and NONE of it has to do with the crime rate. Loading up our society with guns will make our society very unsafe.

A nuclear weapon is an explosive. You can't honestly compare it to a projectile firing weapon such as a gun.

It is the concept....this is where critical thinking comes in! Geez....let's try to think past the 4th grade analysis that nuclear weapons are much worse than guns and are not comparable.

You should be able to understand the concept being promoted by NRA and their zombies: More guns makes us safer. Using that logic, more nuclear weapons for all countries makes us safer. The reality of that concept, well, is obvious....more nuclear weapons in the world is a scary thing. The same applies to guns..but somehow...too few can make that connection = no critical thinking, just repeating the same nonsense.

I totally agree... but gun nuts and teabaggers are just delusional people the fact that Western Europe, Canada, Japan and Australia have a lower homicide rate goes unheard, and they also forget the crime ridden holes that gun culture and lax gun laws have created: Louisiana, South Carolina, Florida

Illiniois and Maryland have higher murder rates than SC and FL and guns are very hard to get in both states. Honestly, there are so many other factors that contribute to crime rates that to blame it solely on guns is retarded. Vermont, Alaska, and Arizona don't even require permits to own a gun (to buy a gun, only a state id and a clean record is required), but they're murder rates are very low and Arizona's rate is average (5.4 per 100K as of 2009). Things like police presence, political corruption, poverty rate, local apathy, hospital quality, access to drugs (border states and states near major drug routes, ie. Mexico and the Caribbean)...crime is so complex, that to blame it all on guns is misinformed at best. My thing is, as long as criminals have firearms, why shouldn't the common citizen have one? Until the day we can guarantee that crime and gun violence will cease, then the right to keep and bear arms without major interference should be respected.

I am not blaming it on guns at all..but I also acknowledge that flooding the market with guns, and having everyone own a gun is not the answer...and that's the real issue. You have a group that is alleging that the answer to the crime rate is arming all citizens...and anyone who does not agree is "Not a real American." And that is total BS.

If you want to own a gun, go through the process and get a gun. What we want are tighter restrictions on who can have one...nothing more. The answer to our crime problems is not more guns, it is less.

Again Sobro, I can name a million states that anybody with a steady pulse can own a firearm in that have lower crime rates than states with airtight restrictions so Gun Control can't be the only answer. In order for crime to decrease, the overall quality of life has to increase. There are tons of gun owners in Canada and in many Western European countries, but they also have lower unemployment and a better social safety net for their citizens.
