New job will be in Astoria and would like to know the best neighborhoods to live near there. Max rent would be 1600 for 1 bedroom and would like the commute to be less than an hour. I would like grocery stores or restaurants near by. Is it possible to find a place furnished or partially furnished?

Thanks!

Long Island City, Greenpoint, Williamsburg, or Astoria of course. I guess Midtown east would work if you wanted to live in the city. Anywhere along the N/Q train within reason would work.

Default 1600 for a 1 bedroom?

Is this manhattan? What the heck kind of brain do you have to pay 1600 for a 1 bedroom in dumpey ugly astoria??

The only people that do that are yuppies and yupster hippies with rich parents from california.

And what kind of jobs are paying money in astoria to allow you to pay for a 1600 a month 1 bedroom.

I live in astoria and pay 400 for a 3 bedroom you dope.

^ Sure you do. Is it in the Ravenswood Houses? My girlfriends 1br in on 21st St was 1300 3 years ago. It was a nice place and decent size but I could definitly see paying more to live in the more centralized Astoria. If they want to pay extra to live in a bigger, renovated, place thats their perogative ya dope!

Probably the Astoria projects.

You're lucky if you can even find a 3-bedroom for under $1500 now.
