Heh, I got Melrose/Mott Haven/Port Morris followed by Bedford Park and Bed Stuy.
In order to get mott haven I increased affordabiliyy and transportation to the max and put.creativity third of the way. Now I wonder why mott haven attracts hipsters from time to time.
The first time I did it, I got Brooklyn Heights, followed by Tribeca, even though I had affordability as a major factor. Next I entered my top 3 most important categories only - affordability, transportation, open space, and came up with Inwood as #1, followed by Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo. Are Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo really considered affordable? And the thing is we used to live in Inwood but moved to Bedford Park because we couldn't afford to buy a house in Inwood. Bedford Park came up #14 - go figure.
List is top loaded to make almost all choices, no matter how preposterous come up with TRIBECA on top. I'll bet the list was compiled by someone who JUST HAPPENS to be selling Tribecas Real Estate.
I got Brooklyn Heights followed by Tribeca. I'll take Brooklyn Heights, but could never afford it. Tribeca? No thank you.
I got the same results. What do you dislike about Tribeca? Always thought that was viewed as one of the best places in NY if you're filthy rich. Lots of celebrities live there.
This thing is great ! Now people can pick a neighborhood without ever seeing it and then go to craigslist and pick and even rent an apartment without ever seeing it ! It's now possible to move with confidence to NYC and walk into your new apartment in your new neighborhood on the first day you ever set foot in the city !
I wonder if this will be the end of all those "is this neighborhood safe" threads ?
I highly doubt this was created to be exact or a mind reader. At the very least, it does provide neighborhoods in which you can further investigate.
Hello Ron-
thanks for posting the link. I know you had good intentions. I appreciate it, especially as I search for my new home to live. As you stated, it does give you a starting point for investigating neighborhoods. Some of the areas I've never heard of.
LOL, It says I should be living in Park Slope even though I made low living costs a top priority. At least it got the proximity to green space right ! But there is something seriously out of whack with whatever algorithms they are using !
This is basically the only way to make the Southern Bronx (Mott Haven/Port Morris/Melrose) on top...and I think it's this mix that is driving all the interest/demand in the community.
100% to Affordability
100% to Transit Proximity
Approx 20% to Shopping
Approx 20% to Green Space
Approx 20% to Health & Environment
And of course a dash of Creativity
(all other choices should be zero)
Sounds about right to me....the bulk of the people I know who have been moving into the community fit this profile. Bronxguyanese's way of 100% Affordability, 100% Transport, and 33% to Creativity is also another way to make it on top....and is consistent with my experience.
Change any variable, sobroguy, and you will get TRIBECA!
