I'm in the process of getting a tutor for my daughter but I feel a bit uncomfortable about having a total stranger come over to our apartment- at least until we get more familiar with the person. Does anyone know any good public place to study with a turor in NYC, especially in the Upper East or West Side? A public library maybe an option but is it an ideal place for tutoring session, considering the fact that you need to keep quiet for the readers there? I've seen some students study with tutors at Starbucks as well, but it seemed to be hard to concentrate with the crowd and noise and all.

In the warmer weather, going to a park might be an option.

Although I have not explored all of the libraries in the city, I have explored many libraries in many states and the hallmark of libraries is that they often have rooms to check out...

Double check you local libraries. Ours has designated areas for teens, for study, etc.
