what do you guys think of living in long island city, on the river?

I'm specifically thinking of those new highrises for yuppie transplants

I currently live in midtown and leaving manhattan is a weird thing to think about, I was just at my friends place downtown on top of a highrise. One WTC is a very epic thing to look at and the view above the city when you are in the middle of the city is great, so I would consider one of those buildings too

but I see slightly more space to value in the other boroughs and some of those new buildings look niiiiice

it seems like everyone is charging the same for rent whether the building has modern amenities or not

so pros:
- Long Island City has a great view of manhattan, if you like to look at that kind of things.
- Long Island City has quick access to midtown by ferry or train
- can get a two story luxury apt for the price of a manhattan "luxury" apt

cons:
- ??? anybody know anything about the neighborhood? I'm not too concerned about that though
- trains outside of midtown get weird at night

About as easy as you could get outside of Manhattan along with Brooklyn Heights, can be a bit quiet but safe. Depending on where you are, you could easily have better subway access than many people in Manhattan at any time of day or night.

Long Island City is generally thought of as in and around Queensborough Plaza.

The area you are speaking of is called "Hunters Point"!
