Yes, you can. You can use it in Westchester and Nassau County, so why wouldn't the MTA let you use it on Staten Island?

Depending on the times you need to be in Brooklyn and where on SI you will be living, you can take a bus over the bridge to the 86th street trains.

I actually didn't know you can use it for Nassau or Westchester buses lol. Thanks.

I did of course, knew SI buses take them.

One note to the previous posts: SI has a lot of express buses (going to Manhattan) which do take MetroCards but cost 2x more than a regular ride. Regular unlimited MetroCard will not work on these. There are unlimited MetroCards for express buses that work on all express buses in NYC in addition to regular MTA buses and subway (these cards cost 2x more than regular ones).

What "ugly" part of Brooklyn do you live in now?

And yes, as others have stated, the NYC MTA metrocard is valid in all 5 boroughs...

Info is even on the MTA website!

Express buses cost $6 a ride, local buses cost $2.50. Weekly passes are $30 for the local buses/subways, $55 for the express. Monthly passes are only available for the local buses/subways and cost $112.
