I am looking for a psychologist/psychiatrist here in NYC/ Manhattan that can provide a letter stating my need for my dog to act as an ‘Emotional Support Animal’. Does anyone know of one in the area. I suffer from severe anxiety when flying and my dog calms me down. I took her on a recent flight and I felt like a different person. She is well behaved and i only need the letter as a back up and fully intend to pay her airfare. All airlines have varying weight/ size requirements and this would ensure ease of getting on board and more importantly allow me to function during flight. Referrals please if you have any, I'm not interested in going the fake route and buying some fake certification, I'm looking or a legitimate psychologist/psychiatrist that I can visit to discuss this.

This is an article about Doc's that bring their pets into the office with them, as support for their patients. There is one mentioned that practices in Manhattan, he might be helpful. Good Luck.

Stop at the airport bar and drink a lot, that will take care of your anxiety. Airplanes are for humans, not pets. I dont want to be near your mutt while Im enjoying my peanuts and watching my boring airline movie.

Besides, if you are already anxious about flying, why would you subject your loving dog to the danger of flight?

How big is your dog? If it can fit into a sherpa dog carrier then it's already airline approved for your dog to be a carry on item.

You can always ask to move to a different seat if it bothers you. If the OP is going to pay for her dog and helps him/her get through the flight with ease I don't know why it would be an issue.

Because I dont want a dog near me on a plane. If you bring your dog, you should move if someone complains.
