That's because you don't get out to Brooklyn enough. The top new places are all in that borough, Brooklyn even currently has strong name recognition in France for culinary innovation
Picked up Thai at SriPraPhai in Woodside Queens last night. For Thai that's my spot unless someone knows of a better place.
SriPraPhai has some of the best red or green curry in the city, but is sub par on the stir fried basil dishes and others. There's a really good place on Grand street in SoHo, Thai Angel. Excellent curry and some of the best Pad Thai
Bronx has alot of different restaurants and cuisine nowadays it can really confuse some ppl. I've been a couple of times in a Vietnamese restaurant near Fordham Road after shopping. And I definitely will go back there. The place is well kept and clean and a beautiful Viatnemese chick was behind the counter I complained that the spring rolls were slightly more expensive than the last time but she just flashed a pearl white grin and said "just pay and don't complain". Sadly her english is pretty bad so there is and always will be a language barrier between us but I told her that Saigon is a beautiful city. You been there she asked? I said not yet but I know a Vietnam Veteran who was stationed there. But when she started to clean the tables in her black stretch jeans trying to balance on her high heels I almost chocked on a mouthful of spring rolls.

Tra Da Noi in the Bronx italian.
Jake's in The Bronx Steak
Fonatna's on NB in Queens Best Gyro and Greek food in the City
Spain Bar on 13th street in Manh. Good spot.
Uncle Jacks on Bell Blvd in Queens Steakhouse
SkinFlints on 5th Ave in Bay Ridge great Burger
Had a great cuban sandwich in Woodside but sorry cannot remember the name.
Peter Luger in Brooklyn. Arthur's in Hoboken. There's also a growing restaurant scene in LIC and Astoria that I am not able to keep up with.
In Astoria you have to check out Stanford's - the food is amazing and it's open 24/7. In Brooklyn most people already know about this one but you have to check out Traif - small plates of amazing food, although I prefer Stanton Social as being better on the LES for a similar style
