No good to my experience. I drove by there many times during daytime and would pick there live regardless how cheap the rent is...it may not be that cheap anyway.
Yes OP it's a safe area for caucasians, I live in the area and am noticing more and more Caucasians moving further east of Prospect Lefferts Garden proper.
It's becoming more and more gentrified. Other changes are happening, cops are patrolling more this summer and cameras have been placed on various corners of Nostrand Ave., also less noise or loud music playing, the gangs hanging out on the corner have vanquished due to the increased police presence. In answering this post I just realized I haven't heard any gunshots at night in quite a while.
OP I see white people walking along the streets and I've never seen anyone bothered. Even getting off the train late night around 11pm at the Sterling stop on the 2 there were a lot of people getting off and many were white and all no matter the color was hustling to get home as you would anywhere in the city. Just trying to convey there's safety in numbers.
Yes its getting gentrified over there. However just wait until Labor Day weekend with all of the wonderful festivities like Jouvert and the West Indian Day Parade. Make sure your vacationing in the Hamptons that weekend.
