It's good for us all to get a glimpse into the future of life in the USA.

And we think we have made progress since the old days of lower east side tenements ?

Shame on all of us that our city allows living conditions like this to exist. You would think something like this would be more of an issue in the mayoral race than Anthony's Weiner.

Where is the media outrage over this ?

How sad. I have to wonder how the double amputee got to the 3rd floor, and how he plans to get out if there is a firn without an elevator. I thought NYC had a minimum square foot requirement.

Not sure if it is any better... but either way looks miserable, don't you think?

I'm pretty sure the minimum square footage for a dwelling law applies to everyone. Also there are no windows in these units. If there was a fire the firemen would be put in increased danger. My main concern is still for the double amputee who is one the 3rd floor with no elevator. How does he go out?

This is not a single case in this city or the country. It is everywhere and there are worse situations out there. The law enforcement in NYC should have addressed this and other similar buildings. If you and I have knowledge of the existence of such situations, you bet the detectives in the law enforcement offices should have known it long before.
