i have been receiving letters about something about a timeshare (insinuating that i have one which i do not and my credit reports do not indicate any loans or fraud regarding that) with an 800# to call. I also have been getting messages left on my voice mail asking me to call them. Several times i had asked them to delete my phone # from their database. Each time they said they would but haven't and i keep getting calls. the last time i called them i told them if these calls didn't stop i was going to call the atty general's office in the state they are in (first they say Fla then they say California) and they just hung up on me and i haven't heard from them again

unfortunately i destroyed their letter (to reduce clutter) but if i get another letter from them im gonna save it as evidence

now my question is did i go the correct route with the atty general's office in their state or would i contact the NY atty generals office? or was contacting the atty general the correct place to go? i don't like the idea of them linking me to a timeshare that i don't own--shades of ID theft

You should report them to the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Trade Commission, online or via phone as well as the states attorney general in NY and their operating state. And, since they use the mail, you may want to file a report with the postal inspectors as well.
