We have had several sightings of something very scary scampering across our floors. It is larger than a roach and seems robe able to make it's body long and narrow, but doesn't see to have a tail, like a mouse. It is about 2-3 inches long. I only care what it is so I can figure out how to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Anyone have any idea of what I am talking about and/or suggestions for killing it?

A scary creature that can change it's shape and scampers across your floors? You better go to the NYC Gun Owners thread dude, I think you need the heavy artillery..

since youve made a death threat ("any suggestions for killing it?") you should be hearing from the proper authorities any second, and then face protests from various rodents rights groups...

i don't know, are BB guns legal??!!

seriously tho, have you tried spin traps or glue traps??

I think it's a short tailed shrew -- looks like a mouse but has a very short tail. The bad news is that its saliva contains a toxin to paralyze and subdue its prey. That's only bad for you, but there's a silver lining -- maybe they will paralyze and subdue any other creatures living in your apartment.

Mainly just kidding, as I don't think shrews live inside. BUT this sounds very scary and I think you should call an exterminator asap. Are they leaving little piles of poop around and chewing up your cardboard cereal boxes?

Buy some sticky mouse traps. Or borrow a cat.

Maybe it's a gecko with a broken tail? I'm very curious to know what that mysterious creature roaming
around your apartment is also. Please update when you find out. A picture will be great if you capture
it later on.

Did it look like anything from this pic? Put a piece of cheese or bacon in the middle of the mouse glue near
the area where you last saw it should catch it.

Wow ... I have no idea what that is!

Ask your super if there are other complaints of such a thing.

Ask your neighbors if they have seen them.

I agree with borrow a cat who is a good hunter. The cat will catch and kill one and you can see it up close. Another benefit of a cat is it will leave its scent around and vermin will smell it (you won't) and they will not come into your apartment anymore because they smell a predator until the cat scent wears off.
