It's called EXCLUSIVE dining for a reason. You either pay up or eat dog food like the rest of us.
Sometimes there is what is called restaurant week when places offer a lower priced price fix menu but guess what ? You really don't get the regular portions at discounted prices...NOPE. You get a scaled back version of the dish to reflect the discount. You still need to tip and more than likely buy a drink (me water!) but even then you come out on the losing end...maybe a measly $35 for a "sample" lunch then save a dollar or two for a slice of pizza to fill you up afterwards.
Restaurant.com used to be a lot better, but most of the places there now are mediocre. The good deals could be foudn at groupon and livingsocial websites, they actually have great restaurants. Don't expect discounts for top-notch NYC places, such as 11 Madison Park, Le Bernardin, etc, however, there are tons of great places.
