Poor people.

Of course we all know that you want to hear a color as the answer, but that's just perpetuating the typical race-baiting BS. Get over it. Poor people use food stamps. I for one don't care what color they are.

I spent three years living in an extremely rural area, and the foodstamp recipients were all white. Whites actually make up the majority of public assistance recipients, but it is easy to assume otherwise, since rural poverty is more common in white communities, and therefore, more "hidden."

Generally, I think people have a misconception about disability insurance as well, creating the perception that everyone on this type of assistance is lying. For example, some people with mental illness may be somewhat controlled by medications, yet unable to work because the side effects of the drug cocktails interfere with holding down a job. SSI and SSDI are in fact VERY difficult to get. It is a multi-year legal process, not a matter of checking boxes off.

I guess you didn't understand that I don't care if the majority of people using food stamps are white, brown, yellow or even green, blue, or purple. CUT AWAY. The only assumption I'm making is that food stamps need to be cut. I'm like the drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket: I dislike everyone equally.

Of course in an extremely rural area food stamp recipients are going to be white.

There are a growing number of people in the U.S who fall under the category of "working poor". They are trying to "fend for themselves" but simply don't make enough.

I stopped reading at page 10 so I don't know if this has already been said. They should drug test the people on welfare for illegal substances. That would kick a lot of people off of welfare that don't deserve it. If you have money to smoke or shoot up, you obviously aren't thinking about your children IMO.

Yeah and that worked well for Florida too, didn't it?

New York City HRA knows how to screen out the druggies getting their services.

So, in that case... even in extremely rural areas.. blacks would still make up the majority of public assistance recipients.
