Hi! I had some down time during this X-Mas vacation so I decided to clean my room & found a Whole plastic storage box that I filled up w/ Old VHS Cassette Tapes. Now "in this age of DVD" I took ALL these Tapes out so I can start filling it up w/ my DVD's, but now I don't know what to do w/ these Tapes. I know when I used to work in the East Village there's a Used DVD place that ONLY sells DVD's, but what I wanted to know is if Anyone could tell me that if there are stores in the Village that sell Used CD's, Used DVD's, or Used whatever,
Wouldn't there be any place that would sell VHS Tapes?
& if so, Where can I find such a place?
I really like to get rid of them b/c now they're just wasting space or otherwise if there isn't such a place I can sell or even get rid (even if I can't sell it to the store) I'll just throw them out (BTW. I'm NOT a fan of E-Bay b/c I just don't want to go thru a Whole Big Production just to get rid of these Tapes.).
Anyway, please let me know. I'm open to any suggestions. Much Appreciative.
I'm curious, what kind of VHS tapes do you have? Any old TV recordings of any kind? I'm always on the lookout for those, especially if they're old recordings from the local NYC area.

My guess is, probably vintage porn from the 70's, 80's with a storyline and hairy women.
certaincircles,
Not worth looking to sell these things for a few pennies. Nobody wants them anymore. You cannot even GIVE them away.
I'm looking at about 100 of them and their days are numbered because they don't justify the space and space is the single thing we New Yorkers never have enough of.
I went through the same crap with my LP's...1000 of them laid by the compactor for anyone to take...along with a Toshiba player. I cried...but realized that time marches on.
I know.... I have a box full of old Sesame Street/Elmo's World VHS that I was "saving" for some reason --- I think my idea was to give them to my daughter when she was grown and with children of her own. What was I thinking??!??!? I would love to give these away, but I doubt if anyone would even want them since everything now is DVD and BlueRay

It really HURTS to deep six these things into a compactor. But there is no choice for so many of us. We haven't the luxury of basements, garages, and attics to become "hoarders."
I assume in about 3 more years I'll forget about all my Callas recordings...and the Moody Blues. But not without tears.
Kefir King, do you have any old TV recordings (specifically from local NYC stations) among your collection?
There's a second life for stuff like that (on YouTube). I myself have digitized TV recordings, both from my childhood and which I've acquired, and uploaded them there.
VHS's of movies and shows however, not so much, unless its something obscure that hasn't been released on another format.
There's a store in Staten Island next to the Pathmark on Forest Ave that has used ones. I think they buy VHS as well, but even with a vast collection...you'll be lucky to get bus fare going home for them.
