I'm very cautious when crossing streets, always look in both directions, always cross in a crosswalk. The results, I was hit by a car turning left while I was crossing in a crosswalk a couple years ago, fracturing my knee. Drivers today have no regards for pedestrians, they rather try to beat pedestrians to a spot, rather than yield to them, and this won't stop until drivers are hit with more serious consequences..

Always look both ways even on one way streets, with the walk sign. There are plenty of wrong way bikers that don't give a sheet that can ruin your day.

I wouldn't say I get anxious...but I am very aware when crossing the streets. I've seen too many close calls....especially with the cabs.

Apparently not a new problem. Remember Dustin Hoffman in "Midnight Cowboy'? "I'M WALKIN' HERE! I'M WALKIN' HERE!!"

No, but I make sure I look and don't just take the signals for granted (just as I look and will walk even if I don't have the signal).

However, I know three people who were hit by a car (no serious injuries) including one while on a bike.

I've never had an issue, but then again, my Mother raised me to have great instincts when walking. I always look in both directions carefully (even on one way streets) and even if the walk signal is on.
