Auto theft grand larceny
Sport utility vechicle broken into on East 238 Street during evening of 11/29/07.
stolen in addition to cell phone and radar detector. Rear window panel smashed to gain entry. Vechicle broken into in front of owner's house
Honestly, whats the point of this? There aren't people stealing cars in other parts of the Bronx and NYC on the whole?
Woodlawn has a very low crime rate, especially compared to anywhere else in the Bronx. I walk around here at all hours of the night and I always feel safe. I have never had any problems related to crime or theft. This is a very tightknit community and everyone pretty much watches out for each other.
Obvious if you have one of those GPS systems in your car that hangs from your front window its a good idea to throw that in the glove compartment box for safe keeping. Especially if you will be leaving your car out on the street at night.
I believe there is more crime in North Riverdale, an area similar in appearance and ethnicity(more Jewish though) to Woodlawn, than there is in Woodlawn itself.
i'd bet it was someone not from the neighborhood. that stuff happens even in nice westchesta towns like bronxville and pelham. no need to title a thread 'woodlawn crime' and its about a single stolen car lol. woodlawn is a low-crime area. if anything-- we need more irish neighborhoods like there was in the past, they maintain good clean neighborhoods.
I really don't get the need for this thread which makes Woodlawn seem dangerous. It happens to be one of the safest areas of the Bronx. Obviously, it being a large densely populated community there is some crime, but there is little violent crime and certaintly no need to feel in danger in the neighborhood. Like concept said, this type of crime occurs in all types of neighborhoods from Saddle River to the South Bronx.
To stillfreak: read thread on "Mexican moving to Woodlawn. It's Lol crazy.
