Here's a good one that happened a few decades ago.
I was walking with two friends in Salt Lake City.
I motioned to the curb to pick something up or throw something away, I forget which. As I reached the curb without stepping off, 4 lanes of traffic (two in each direction) stopped for me to cross in the middle of the block. I didn't and felt a little sheepish.

I found out later that this is very common. I guess there's SOMETHING good about being a Mormon.
