ball rolling in terms of classes starting at the end of June, or all the stuff before it (final processing/medicals/CDL training/etc.) in order to start classes in July/August?

Has the stigma of being a sanitation worker worn off or is it because the economy is so bad in terms of creating decent career jobs?

So many people took the test BECAUSE it's a decent career job and the fact it wasn't given for 7 years. Usually a new test is given every 4 years.
Piff: you pretty much answered your own question. Contrary to the impression one might get hanging around on the CD NYC board, most people who live in this city aren't $380k/yr ballers or real estate tycoons ruminating about who to rent all their properties to. There just ain't much out there these days even for lots of people who went to college and tried to do things right. A $70k/yr job is good money and a ticket to a better life for a lot guys who don't have a lot of options.

SanMan: I'm sure you can set a better example than that.

I was just curious Mr AWOL. I took exam 5001 just as a precaution. As a matter of fact I did exam 6063, did my physical and I have my class A license with XP endorsements, just got reinstated.
But its ok if you're not in a possition to offer guidance or recommendations to the women that are about to join. Guess I'll see what its like WHEN I get there.

No problem. I know they're in the mid 5000s and they are supposedly going to hire 500. Of course nothing is in stone. But they are taking people for FBF. so there will be some classes.. again good luck also if you have any questions when they do call you in for paperwork etc feel free to come on here and ask. Also one thing I know people forget is you'll need some sort of bill from like I think 2007 to prove you were a resident and to get those 5 residency points you filed for way back when. you'll get a full list of everything you need when you get called.
