What are the fees for root canal on a molar and/or a crown for a molar at the dental clinic at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine or at NYU Dental clinic?

Has anyone been recently who could share what they paid and their thoughts on their experience there?

I have medicaid which does not pay for a root canal or root on molars for adults over 21, so I am looking for a reasonable lowest cost option.

Thanks in advance for any info from anyone who has been to one of these clinics!

I haven't been in about 5 years but back then roots were about 100 each and crowns were about $500. Can't remember posts (which you almost always need.)
But every time I went the price scale was up so god knows how much today.

I'm surprised that Medicaid doesn't cover root canals for adults.

(NYU will not do root canals on wisdom teeth...that I know.)

They take NO insurance but a woman ahead of me at the cashier gave some sort of card and her bill was $0.00. They told me that was Medicaid...and it was in the IMPLANT clinic.

Looked up last year's prices at NYU:
Crown: $740 by student "pre doc," $1260 by Grad student.
Root canal of molar: $530/$700
Post $110/$235.

So that tooth will be $1380 or $2195 depending on who does the work.

That was the price for the 2012-2013 school year.

Yeah that's way more than you need to pay. You can get a professional dentist to do the root canal for $500, post is about $120-ish, and crown will be about $550. So for a complete back molar job you should be paying under $1200 total. You just need to sign up with one of those dental network plans, costs about $7 a month effective immediately, no contract. I use the careington-500 plan

I had porcelain veneers done there some years ago for 4 teeth. It was $1500 for 4 teeth.

You actually should go there to have them assess your needs and see what you can work out. Go early in the morning, register at the clinic and let them examine you and set up a plan with you.
