LOL I was expecting to find at least a few reasons that would have me questioning my decision to move to Bed-Stuy but at least 7 of those 9 could apply to almost any neighborhood in NYC (noise, transplant neighbors, dirty sidewalks). Crime is the only legitimate grip IMO and considering the author was "mugged, robbed and threatened on multiple occasions" in Clinton Hill you would think they would seek out safer areas than Bed-Stuy. From what I can tell this author just sounds like a fool whining about their poor decisions. Why rent an apartment without an oven or bathtub? That's not the neighborhoods fault.

"I rent a studio that lacks an oven and a bathtub for $1,135 a month."

"I used to live in Clinton Hill, and during that period was mugged, robbed and threatened on multiple occasions"

This girl sounds like a moron.

A) There are plenty of places you can live where you won't be put in physical danger just by stepping out your door, and at a MUCH better price.

B) Don't cry about things that you could have figured out before moving to a historically poor and crime-ridden, incredibly dense urban area.

C) I'd be more worried about the multiple brushes with neighborhood criminals than the hipster practicing drumming next door.

Yeah, it's not a backlash.

All those issues (including robberies) happened to my friend's roommate's brother and her roommate when she living in Williamsburg late 90s and early 20s). Williamsburg was rapidly gentrifying, but still hoody then. Like Bedstuy now. This was long before condos were under construction in Williamsburg or long before a Whole Foods was under construction.

Yes, I forgot Starbucks. Thank you for reminding me. Hood in transition Williamsburg had independent cafes, but now you have Starbucks in Williamsburg itself.

I couldn't open the first link but the 2nd one hit the nail on the head on what makes an "up and coming" neighborhood. I would never move into such a neighborhood because I already know all those things she mentioned are there.

This person ranting lost their legitimacy at "I rent a studio that lacks an oven and a bathtub for $1,135 a month." You've been mugged multiple times, but not even in BS, and you move to an area with higher crime and don't complain about getting mugged there, you complain about the police department? To top it off, you call 911 for a noise complaint? This person is an idiot.

It was never that hood over there in the first place. Not Bed-Stuy like hood.
