I would like to know if there are taxi cabs available around Madison Square Garden around 11-11:30 at night. I am going to Royal Rumble at the Garden on January 27th and instead of walking back to Port Authority where the Greyhound bus is, which I think is unsafe that time of night, I wanted to take a cab.

Any tips for my first trip to NYC is also appreciated! I am only 19 years old. =]

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year everyone!
Plenty of cabs, the only problem being all the other people leaving MSG at the same time.

You could walk up to PA (there will be plenty of people around, so it should be perfectly safe), or walk a bit east towards Broadway and 7th and get a cab from there.

There are lines for cabs there, you'll definitely have to wait a bit. Why not just take a quick walk or subway ride? It will be a LOT faster than waiting for a cab... the lines there are always REALLY long.

The walk from MSG to Port Authority is very safe and very populated.

It seems like you're perfectly capable of using the internet. Google Maps is your friend.

Default The smart move

Why not take the 1/2/3/A/C/E trains which all operate between these two locations? The subway ride is all of 2 minutes. The trains leave from the basement of MSG so you never have to leave the building. No less than six train lines operate so trains leave every few minutes. Why freeze your flipping rear end off waiting for a cab on the corner?

use this link - it's like a mapquest for walking and using subway train system in nyc. plug in starting point (dont need exact addresses since locations are well known) and ending point and select how you wish to get there (walk, subway).
HopStop.com - Subway Directions and Bus Directions for New York City (NYC)

How much would a cab cost me if I was taking it from PA to MSG? I know its only a short walk but if I were to take a cab back at night.
