Just like the title states.. who was the most famous person you've ever ran into? musician? actor/actress? t.v personality? athlete? Introduced yourself? acknowledged them? took a photo?
The crazy thing is since this is NYC god knows how many famous people you've probably walked passed and didn't think twice.

Alex Rodriguez, Michael Keaton, woody Allen, Lucy Liu, Michael Strahan. Never took a photo of or asked for a worthless signature. Most of the time I don't pay much attention to celebrates on the street. I I just notice them when they stop to talk to me or make some sort of gesture. Usually I do not think twice about celebrates.
I've never randomly bumped into a celeb on a street personally. I my line of work, I do come into contact with celebs occasionally, but mostly minor, b-list types and local politicians.
My wife claims Lucy Liu came up to her in a resturant and said our son who was an infant at a the time was the cutest baby. I wasn't there but it was probably just some random asian lady.
She also said she saw Tracey Morgan get out of a cab in midtown, and was very friendly and talkative to random strangers that recognized him and came up to him.
John Belushi on Columbus Day 1978. it was on W 49th street between 6-7th. he shook our hands, we told him we just saw Animal House and he encouraged us to see his next movie (Blues Bros?)
I rode in an elevator in a public building with Harrison Ford once and chatted briefly. I once sat one table away from Alec Baldwin and his wife in a restaurant, before they were married, though there was no interaction.
I also once encountered Hillary and Chelsea Clinton (and I think Chelsea's husband, though I didn't recognize him) in my firm's offices and spoke with them briefly, but that wasn't "in public" in the same sense. There have been a wide variety of less-close encounters, as well, and less prominent sightings.
