Coming out of midtown subway station, a huge line of tourists crossing the street most likely going towards Times Square(funnest place in the city) blocking pedestrians and they never make any attempt to show courtesy toward others and they were packed pretty tight. Probably 200-300 people altogether.
I was waiting for a gap or someone to show courtesy to let other people pass but they wouldn't stop.
So I had enough and started my Marshawn Lynch move and bumped a few people. Some of those folks obviously showed displeasure but I didn't care they completely showed lack of courtesy towards other folks they deserve some elbows.
As soon as I moved across folks behind me were able to take my lead and pass through the pocket.
Tourist hordes is one of many reasons why I moved to suburbs.
It has gotten so ridiculous in Dumbo, that you can't even jog in either the Brooklyn Bridge parks or Bridge itself unless its either very early or very late.
Its great for property values though. My 1bd room in Dumbo coming in the market later this month now that I finally have gone full suburb.
I don't know where these people are from but they certainly have no awareness of their surroundings at all. They don't know there are other pedestrians including other tourists trying to use the same sidewalks.
Next time I see bloggers posts about rude NYers. Let's get the fact straight the rudest ones in NYC are the tourists.
I think tourists need to be informed before they visit NYC how crowded Midtown Manhattan is and therefore they need to make sure they stay out of the way of NYers who are just trying to go about their daily business.
Yeah I just plow through them in midtown. It's the only way some of them learn. Sometimes I think it's our job to give them that kind of 'New York experience' of getting elbowed out of the way. I like to imagine their kids watching, slack-jawed at the bustle of the city and seeing their clueless parents get bumped off the sidewalk.

There's a thread here somewhere in parents forum that some lady wanted to know if it's a good idea for a double side by side stroller when visiting NYC during Easter. Folks that's been to NYC and from the area thinks it's a terrible idea while other folks said they shouldn't have to base their decision on NYers they should get the best stroller for their kids.
She's been warned already and that's what I find a lot of out of towners just don't get it. They think they have the right to take the entire sidewalk as if they own it.
They don't understand that, it's a 2-way street. Everybody has a right to use it and walk without impeding on others.

You sir or madam are a failure! how can you let the damn tourist win... you are not a true New Yorker.
Tourists are on the Staten Island ferry during early morning rush hour. So annoying to have to fight your way through the crowds this early in the morning. I have a bit more patience after work but insisting on seeing the statue of liberty at 8:00 am on a weekday? Give me a break. :-(

You got to be more understanding of their situation. They may have 8 other sights to go to today before you hop on the plane heading out to their next destination.
