Wow I went to Binghamton for a few semesters, I actually like the city of Binghamton (Vestal, not so much) but I wouldn't want to live there. But I wouldn't completely knock upstate based off your experience, there are plenty of cities upstate that are significantly more developed than Binghamton.

It's okay, it never really feels like home tho. I miss NYC like mad when Im up there. I think maybe I could check out Rochester one day, it seems interesting ^^

The deer come right up to your porch where you can blow them to smithereens.

I enjoyed my time there, it's a completely different experience than what I'm used to. But I totally understand missing your home city, I'm sure it happens to a lot of people who go away for college

I think Binghamton would be better if it simply had a larger population, it would develop more and there would be more to do. Maybe it will happen due to the ridiculously high rent in NYC.

When I decided to move out of NYC two years ago (the rent being too damn high) I considered upstate but in the end decided against it for my particular circumstances and criteria.

I found the biggest obstacle for me in moving out of NYC is that I was completely adjusted to a car-free lifestyle. I don't have one now.

I have been contemplating this for years. I work in the city and I wouldn't mind driving many miles everyday.
