Just curious, that if Tilden, Carnarsie and South Shore are closed, where are the kids going to HS in those areas.

IDK specifics about these schools, but in general, when big high schools are phased out, they're usually broken up into several smaller schools and kids who want to stay local can apply to one of those new small schools. Those small schools typically are varied, so one can be more academic, one arts-focused, one for immigrant ESL kids, one CTE school (vocational ed) etc., etc. Smaller schools generally do have higher graduation rates for weaker students, which is why the city goes this route and breaks up the big schools in the first place.

Of course, the local kids can also apply to any other high school in the city that they want to go to.

Don't know much about the others but South Shore got shut down and like the poster above stated it was turned into multiple smaller schools.

In 2007 Tilden HS was changed to the Tilden Educational Complex, consisting of several separate small schools.
