So the question would be whether those dogs were grandfathered in and if there is proof. If they were there legally the owner is in a ****load of trouble and can kiss NYCHA goodbye.
you mean illegally

the few times i've been to the bronx i saw pitbuls everywhere. a few were off the leash. anyways i want people who live in public housing with pitbuls to be kicked out.
poor guy hope he recovers. yikes.
how are they behind in rent when the rent is cheap??? like probably $500 or less for a big apartment.
i agree , unlike other breeds , trained or not their jaws have certain features about them including bite pressure and the ability to lock on that make them extremely dangerous
Untrue, "pit bulls" (no such breed) do not have "locking jaws" nor are their jaws any different physiologically than any other breed of dog. In fact their bite force per pound is actually less than shepherds and Rotties when studied.
The difference is the stubbornness found in terrier breeds, across the board. They latch on and don't easily let go. This includes tiny breeds like Yorkies and Rat Terriers. They're not a bite and retreat breed such as border collies or labs.
And when they get caught there are consequences, including removing those people from NYCHA and making room for people who will not illegally own those dogs.
You do realize that a number of government programs have caseworkers CHECK on the living situation of people on the DOLE? NYCHA could have workers visit all the apartments and reports if large dogs are living there.
Because the laws are unenforced, the same way no-pet apartment leases are flouted. Only when a couple pit bulls eat an infant are any actions taken.
