Having pitbulls wandering about is like a home-brewed form of rent control. The rents ain't gonna be risin where there's pitbulls.

Untrue, "pit bulls" (no such breed) do not have "locking jaws" nor are their jaws any different physiologically than any other breed of dog. In fact their bite force per pound is actually less than shepherds and Rotties when studied.

The difference is the stubbornness found in terrier breeds, across the board. They latch on and don't easily let go. This includes tiny breeds like Yorkies and Rat Terriers. They're not a bite and retreat breed such as border collies or labs.

There is no Second Amendment right to own killer dogs.

Especially in apartments. But as noted NYCHA has already BANNED all large dogs-including pit bulls and rottweilers (sp?).

I think it's mostly income-based. (So in certain neighborhoods, your NYCHA rent might be equivalent to the rent in a regular apartment)

Maybe there's a way NYCHA workers (and mailmen for that matter) can carry tasers or something.

And when they get caught there are consequences, including removing those people from NYCHA and making room for people who will not illegally own those dogs.

You do realize that a number of government programs have caseworkers CHECK on the living situation of people on the DOLE? NYCHA could have workers visit all the apartments and reports if large dogs are living there.

Because the laws are unenforced, the same way no-pet apartment leases are flouted. Only when a couple pit bulls eat an infant are any actions taken.
