What I wanna know is if there are ways of getting authentic dishes from the Americanized Chinese places. In much of the city, those places are the only kind of Chinese around
Now; that I have a picture of what I'm looking for; where should I go in the Big Apple to get it?
What is the BEST place in the City
For Typical Americanized-Chinese food with large; portions like this? Am I more likely; to find this in Brooklyn
(or) the Bronx then I am in Manhattan?
This is Sweet and Sour Chicken with chicken-fried rice comes with and egg roll too from my local Cantonese place in Michigan:
The original posters photo of the food, looks seriously awful. It's not like you can recommend Americanized Chinese food in NYC because like others pointed out, it's everywhere, and it is all standardized and coming from the same suppliers for the most part.
Eating in Manhattans China town can be a struggle at times. There can be some serious egos and prejudice/ignorance from the Asian workers in those restaurants. It can be so much ego/abuse it make you not want to return.
I like those Asian food carts up at Columbia University. Inexpensive and decent portions of real Asian food to go. Take the 1 train to 116th Street, during the week, times when they are open for business can be spotty but worth it.
NO. Hotpots are very expensive. A lot of famous restaurant brands are hotpots. A lot of dishes that do not require cooking skills are expensive, such as Steak, or sushis.
This I completely disagree. Real sushi is art, hotpot is work but at the end of day just putting in the right ingredients. Comparing sushi and hotpot is like comparing wine and cheese.
lol. cutting raw fish is art? have you ever eaten a real classy chinese hot pot?

If anyone says Panda Express. These are fighting words
I love Panda Express. Going with the bigger plate option leaves enough for lunch the next day. Not the best "Chinese" food I've had but it's cheap, big portions, and it gets delivered in under 20 minutes.
meet me off the board lmao
