Look in a any food or whatever window all over NYC and you'll see "help wanted" signs written in Spanish, usually for delivery persons but other jobs as well.
New York City is a very expensive place to live and options for finding "cheap" housing are getting tight for everyone. East Harlem once was such a place but the Hispanic/Latino "illegals are finding themselves priced out as the area gentrifies. Thus these people like others are finding themselves having to look outside of Manhattan (usually far out) to find housing they can afford. At some point many must crunch the numbers and realize they are better going back "home" or at least getting out of New York.
The Mexican economy actually isn't that bad compared to previous years. Thanks to NAFTA more and more manufacturing is moving down south, which brings jobs as well.
For many illegals am betting they just are waking up to the fact there won't be a smooth and vast "asylum" immigration bill anytime soon.
I went the Queens Center today for some black friday shopping. The place was overrun with immigrants spending money left, right and center. The NYT writers must not shop at Queens Center.
