I've been to Manhattan one time. (Also Coney Island) On the next trip I wanted to check out a little of Brooklyn or the Bronx. Which do you recommend for being better for getting photos of people and / or interesting sights? Also are either of these areas unsafe for tourists?
I reccomend Brooklyn. Brooklyn has a lot of interesting characters (hipsters, lol) especially around Williamsburg/Bushwick/Greenpoint area. Brooklyn also has better, much more close-up views of the Manhattan skyline (and Statue of Liberty), and a much more developed waterfront. I also think it would have more interesting sites to see for tourists.
Brooklyn is safe for tourists. Brooklyn is super gentrified (Except for some parts of eastern BK). You'll be fine. Some areas of BK are some of the most touristy spots outside Manhattan, like the promenade, DUMBO, and even Williamsburg.

I agree but don't count out The Bronx, I think the grit would make for some excellent photos.
If you want to photograph middle america's children of the corn, yes, come to Brooklyn. If you want to photograph a REAL LIFE CHILDREN OF THE CORN, then go to the bronx.
They both sound good. I like grit as well. What parts of the Bronx are good to check out?
Highbridge, Morris Heights and Mount Eden sections of the Bronx, all three neighborhoods are great for seeing how extreme the Bronx's topography can get with the outcroppings of rock and the stair streets.

my wife and i are in to photography . we love photographing greenwood cemetery . it is a famous landmark . google it .
we also enjoy the streets of williamsburg and bushwick for street art and the locals .
How Italian is the area still in 2016? I was under the impression that most of the Italians left.
Yeah, I'm not sure. That's why I mentioned the Albanians. But the street still looks Italian, with Italian stores and restaurants.
Edit: I found the answer. The restaurants have owners and chefs with Italian names, so in that sense it's still Italian. But many of the Italian customers you see wandering around buying all the Italian products and eating Italian food may actually be coming off of tour buses from Connecticut, Westchester and NJ, just coming back for nostalgia's sake.
