Can't wait! I qualify for just a few of these apartments, but I am SHOCKED how many one bedrooms are going to people to people who make over 100K a year (singles to boot!). damn. It's almost as frustrating as when buildings go up (like the new Dean one.. 1040 Dean or something) where a majority of the units go to EXTREMELY low income persons. There's really very little for income band 3 in most of these lotteries (there are 5 bands).
I applied. FX still awaiting our fate for 535 Carlton but its nice to have a lotto I can actually apply for. Just sucks that so many apartments are set aside for Higher income ppl. We are stuck in the middle not poor but not rich at least by NYC standards. ah well we will see what happens.
But soooooooo many of the other lotteries skew the OTHER way too, i.e. a gazillion apartments mostly set aside for singles making under 30K a year and up to like 50 if they have multiple kids. This building is nice because it seems to cater to all five income bands, although it does skew to higher incomes indeed. But the 1040 Dean lotto that just opened up, don't bother if you make over 38K a year.
You guys are awesome with the heads ups. I hate that there are gaps between the ranges for each family size. Our income is about to increase so I don't even know where we will fit, but I applied as we qualify at the moment. When will get lucky? WHEN???!!!
Agreed there should be more financial diversity in these lotteries, affordable housing seems to be a issue for most of us.
