I live and work in Long Island, but on occasion I need to go to brooklyn around the Brookyln Army Terminal area.
Because of Kosciuszko construction, I have been avoiding the BQE and taking a longer circuitous route via the Belt Parkway. Usually takes an hour leaving 6am in Long Island to get to my destination via the Belt.
Now that the Kosciuzko is opened, is the BQE any better now? I'm afraid to try, because the last time I took the more direct BQE route, I was sitting in traffic for 2 hrs.
I got a good friend of mines. He does the same thing to get to the Brooklyn Army Terminal during the morning rush hour taking the long route via the Belt and Van Wyck. Now with the first part of the Kosciuzko rebuild done, he and I thought it would ease up traffic.
Boy, we were mistaken! If anything, I think it made things worst. So, now we wait until 2020 (maybe 2019, if we're lucky) and perhaps it will improve then.
I tried it yesterday morning. Took 1hr and 15min. So its better than it use to be, but the Belt is still quicker around that time.
