Has anybody noticed? Mostly those cold emotionless machines are checking you in instead
of those warm and friendly staff. I am more concerned about where do those human workers go now and how do they make a living?

There are both, kiosks and humans. What the kiosks have done are reduce the long lines.

You can always get a human to help, if say, you can't scan your passport.

The future of airlines is self service kiosks. No going back.

This is/will happen to many customer service oriented industries, just see how many fast food joint will be fully self service in 5 years. You will be amazed.

I usually arrive at airports exhausted and grumpy, and I stand there pretending I've never seen a computer terminal before. Then they the people come up.

I'm not sure how warm the staff was, but it's certainly a trend - as with the automated checkout at CVS, I think it is, or the long buses. That's what the powers-that-be want, I suppose - no employees to pay, only customers to profit from.

That's why I always go to kiosks if available. It's one of the reasons JetBlue's T5 at JFK is my favorite terminal.

I'd rather a robot stick it's finger up my bum hole than some surly human being from Queens any day.

Border control agents are doing check-in now?

Seriously, though. The kiosks are immensely more efficient and save travelers a ton of time which is needed to offset the incredibly inefficient security process.

Friendly staff? We're talking about the JFK airport in Jamaica Queens right?

All of you folks who prefer to have your personal instant conveneince/efficiency over your peer human worker job opportunities, you are digging a big hole for yourself or your offspring because you may well be the next batch of work force to be replaced and rendered worthless in the near future.
