Hi all,

We'll be visiting NY Mon-Wed next week and my husband for the most part tries to eat gluten free since he has celiac. I was wondering if you all could recommend some places to eat that have gluten free options. We'll be staying in Midtown East close to Grand Central but we are not limited to eating in that area of course. I'd prefer to stay in Manhattan due to time constraints but if there is something Awesome in Brooklyn or Queens that you recommend, we definitely want to know.

Thank you!

I did a quick google search for places but wanted to hear from locals as to what you recommend. Thanks again!

There are several Le Pain Quotidien locations in Midtown and around the city for that matter that offer healthy organic gluten free options. Gluten free isn't cheap, so I'm sure you're prepared to pay for such options, especially here in NYC. You may also want to check out Urban Space which is across the street from Grand Central. It's basically a large market with various vendors set up that is supposed to provide more high-end options for Midtown, which previously had been considered a food desert until recently. I haven't been in there in a while, but occasionally stop by there for coffee from Toby's Place and for pastries from Ovenly. I'm pretty sure Ovenly has gluten free items, along with a few other vendors. You'll have to dive in and see what places you like though. Some people find such places pretentious and lacking from a portions standpoint, but if you want organic options and/or gluten free, it sort of comes with the territory, since most of the places serving such things tend to be hipster type spots. You also have a Whole Foods across the street from Bryant Park, which is a short walk from Grand Central. Plenty of gluten free options there, though I can't vouch for their prepared foods there since I only buy organic fruit, organic veggies, and other organic things that I can prepare at home.

Start with those. I'm sure someone else can provide other options, but those are the ones that I think of off of the top of my head.

Brooklyn has TONS of such spots though, particularly in Williamsburg, Park Slope and a few in Greenpoint. If you want to know about some good spots, ask you shall receive! All of these neighborhoods are a short subway ride or ferry ride away.

Have ordered delivery from there too... Tasty... Wouldn't recommend eating in some of the locations though... Not necessarily clean.

I love Nish Nush. It's a vegan/vegetarian Israeli place with two locations downtown. Lots of their stuff is GF.

The spicy falafel is great.
