Yeah, *giving it back to the people* while that buffoon rides in his SUV and gets more payoffs from developers.

Both of them put in more than they get back from the state too.
These aren't poor places- they're far flung exurbs of the NY Metropolitan area.

State Government costs money to run and operate. It isn't all just "let's take from everyone and divvy it up equally". Very few make out on the deal.

This isn't about general state taxes... This is about the MTA Commuter Tax though. Some business' in those regions have zero employees or customers who use the MNR or LIRR. Why do those business' have to pay the same rate of payroll tax as those in Manhattan where the vast majority of employees and customers use MTA products?

Should Downstate pay a special tax per parcel on the NFTA-Metro in Buffalo?
It sounds about as fair as people in Orange County, NY paying additional fees on their car registration to fund the MTA.

... it's very good when tourist taxes support the rest of the state.

That's how places like Nevada and Florida have ZERO income taxes.

It's not so good the other way around. When city residents are paying MORE to support visitors.
