From guys on our block word is total compensation package for doormen will be $135k per.

At that kind of money begin to understand why so many new buildings downtown don't have doormen. And before anyone starts that is one of the selling points; people buying/renting in such buildings value their privacy and don't want (or feel they need) doormen.

This and or new buildings are going non-union. https://www.brickunderground.com/blo...th_union_labor

135k? You’re starting to lose your freakin mind it seems like, man.

On the previous (current) contract, employees see something like $500 something per week if I recall correctly. At the new rate, it will be a little higher, but likely still under $600. The health plan is ok I guess. Nothing extraordinary by any means.

You can afford a studio in some rat-hole neighborhood out in the boros if you’re very lucky and willing to spend 50% of your income with that salary.

They go on strike? Good for them, make noise! It aint easy dealing with pain in the but entitled tenants, so they are worth every dollar paid. The porter have to bag up and put out the trash, shovel snow, clean out apartments, clean glass and mirrors, sweep and mop daily. If the Super is cool, they can make extra after work prepping apartments for new tenants.
Porters and doormen are not making $30/hr. That would be $1,200/week gross. That is not what the checks look like by any means. They are paid salary and it looks like what I laid out in the previous post.

Since the persons who gave that number *are* doormen and porters, they ought to know. This and or details are in linked story from the Real Deal. Benefits *and* wages are increased of this new contract.
