Is it Bill or MTA Fault ? How much you pay for gas in the city
“Regular gas has hit $5 a gallon at at least one station. A Mobil station on 11th Ave. in Hell's Kitchen has raised its prices to $4.999 a gallon. That's well above the current average for the five boroughs. AAA says the average in New York City is $3.18 a gallon.”
Instead of blaming on someone, why not think of what you can do to reduce your cost. If driving a car is a necessity, then there's nothing you can do. However, I know a lot of people drive just to avoid the crowd, and if that's the reason, then maybe consider taking public transportation. Problem solved.
Price gouging, although is not illegal the city can give them a hard time eventually.
where else are you going to get gas in Manhattan? The remaining stations are all dropping like flies, and the land under them are worth tens and hundreds of millions. That's the price in Manhattan, if people stop paying then it'll be a new high rise within a year

As noted only one station in Manhattan as of now is charging $5/gal. Everyone else is being more reasonable.
My guess is plenty of taxi, limo, car service, uber/share and those who rent or use car share schemes are suckered into that place at 11th and 51st.
Unless you are on "E" and not going to NJ anyway you can find gas much cheaper just a few blocks away and through the Lincoln Tunnel.

15 gallon tank, extra $2/gallon in Hell's Kitchen = $30 extra cost over jersey (jersey has gas tax now, gas is generally cheaper in upstate new york state believe it or not).
Sure you can cover the $15 toll but spend 1hr+ round trip in the tunnel to save net $15? I don't think so.
