The same color wood (mahogany?), the matching piano- almost identical to the house I lived in. So nice and warm.

Ive lived here in the city going on 12 years now. I can only imagine what that area was like before gentrification.

Im not starting any arguments but Historically that area of Sugar Hill contradicts some of wider narratives about how all black folks (in Harlem) were all poor because Sugar Hill was mainly for wealthier black families, families of doctors, lawyers, educated people, and probably real estate also.

So nice but the surrounding areas are still Dirty and have litter, and drugs you know, so, anyone reading this getting any wild ideas of buying there.. dont..

Just north of City College. Those homes are beautiful. This is the Sugar Hill district. Lovely old buildings that are being renovated and beautiful tree lined streets.
If you're going to troll RE listings at least get things correct.

Home was *listed* for $3.7 million back in June, and still has not sold. In fact seller's have reduced their asking price a bit down to $3.4 million.

Just as with rest of Harlem/upper Manhattan none of Hamilton Heights/Sugar Hill was built specifically for blacks. It was all for wealthy and upper middle-class whites (mostly WASPs and Germans). Then came various other Europeans (Irish, Italian, etc...) and finally Jews and blacks. The influx of latter began an exodus of whites and allowed blacks to gain not just a foothold, but pretty much take over most areas.

Strivers Row for instance wasn't built for blacks either, but in the end for various economic reasons they ended up getting most if not all the properties. Now that too is changing....

Leaving aside the financials (recent changes in tax laws included), the SRO classification is likely also impacting this property.

A certificate of no harassment was secured, but with this mayor and current administration who the eff knows.

H A R L E M + B E S P O K E: DWELL: 327 CONVENT AVENUE TOWNHOUSE

Late as 2011 it does seem current owner (Gyl-Maria Rose) was renting out units.
