Of course, but when you are talking about "official" decisions, you want your particularly advantageous figurehead in position.

Getting back to the original topic, good for them. Hell, I wish they would get $38 an hour.

Everyone in this city deserves a living wage. Everyone. It's high time we had a stable, thriving middle class again.

I prefer sit down jobs in a office rather than standing all day and come home tired regardless of pay. lol

Verizon, Con Ed and other public utilities have been shedding jobs for years now.

Call Verizon for a service appointment and see what date you get; something at least two weeks (or more) away. Union workers for Verizon went on strike twice recently and got *nothing*, ended up going back to work and basically accepting original contract they first turned down.

Spectrum? Remember those workers who went out on strike? Last time one checked they *still* are out and this has been going on for > year.
the 2008 cleansing showed companies how much in fewer workers they really needed . technology reduced the head counts needed but it wasn't until companies got mean and lean that they realized it . so those jobs never are coming back . if anyone was layed off odds are pretty good they were never replaced .
