Hello, I would like to take the test to become a notary public.
I am in Manhattan.
Not interested in taking a class, want to study on my own, anybody where I can find the material to study and some of the questions to practice?

And where do I find the days I can take the test and locations?

I really have no idea. Hope someone can guide me in the right direction.

I called the number on the state website and they were less than useful. Have me no info at all.

Hoping someone knows the process and help me out.

It's an open book test is my understanding from a co-worker who took it in manhattan.

I took a class and it was helpful to know what topics are frequently covered, but yuh can use the above. It wasn’t open book a few years ago, I’m not sure if it is now.

I took the test in Brooklyn over 10 years ago (have not been licensed in years) and thought the test was super easy and fairly common sense based. I think I found some information online, did not takes any classes

I took the test 5 years ago and it was very straight forward.

I ordered this book from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/14...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Book was delivered on a Friday and I took the test the following Wednesday. There might be a more recent edition out, even though I can't imagine too much has changed in the exciting world of notaries, hah. The test is not open book, but it is not difficult.

Had a friend take the test about 10 yrs back and she was told there were three and it was luck of the draw which one you got because they were not all easy. She failed the first, got lucky the second time.

It is not open book, but I though it was easy. There are just a handful of facts you need to memorize, the rest is common sense.

There are sample tests that you can take online to help prepare you.
