I've done this numerous times and calls still get through. Annoying as all he**.
I know this is nothing new, but I didn't know people (particularly seniors) are still falling for it.
I'm glad random people (cashiers, bank tellers, even taxi drivers) are on alert and letting seniors know they're being scammed. I've since been alerting all the seniors I know of this scam...just in case.

This is my favorite solution to nailing scammers:
https://www.popularmechanics.com/tec...app-explainer/

When you get a scam call, the app generates a fake but trackable credit card number that you give to the con guy. When they try to run the card, their account gets traced and you can find them and even file a lawsuit against them

I heard a fun story, that the grandparent getting the scam call prudently said, "Honey, tell me your date of birth."

The scammer hurriedly hung up.

That is priceless.

Over the past year those have grown tremendously.

My voicemail was full for months and I finally deleted them the other day. Most of them scam calls, probably 5-6 screaming at me in Chinese.

I also got a scam text which I called the number for just to see. It asked me for my CC number so I just started typing in all kinds of crap.

I used to get robocalls from ‘Microsoft’ that they were going out of business and they owed me a refund.

I thought about adding my number, but then didn't as I don't get many of these calls. If it does become a problem for me, I'll add my number ASAP!
