So what I'm wondering is, why wouldn't NYC do the same for people with all diseases? Free medicine and home Delivery for Diabetes who need insulin! or Free Delivery of medicine for people who have heart conditions!

But someone voluntarily starts taking drugs, gets addicted and then it's our (The Taxpayer) responsibility to take care of them?

What kind of backwards world do we live in?

I hate to say it but this makes me happy. I live by a clinic. Lets just say the people who go there are not people I want hanging around my block all day.

However you are correct. It's very backwards.

Would you rather they break into your home or mug you for money to buy heroin?

Most diabetics are getting their insulin delivered already or are able to pick it up.

Treating drug addiction has a health problem rather than a criminal problem leads to cost savings for taxpayers and better outcomes for addicted individuals. That's why these types of actions are the correct approach.

As upsetting as this might be to those of us unaffected by addiction, this is the correct approach. Heroin addicts lose all reasoning apart from their desire for the drug, and if this wasn't being done they would be out commiting crime to get their fix.

Like it or hate it the following is only my opinion:
There is a place for those who commit crime without reason. It is called jail.
Great place to go cold turkey..................

A voice of reason. Why people would complain about people who have substance use disorder and are getting help for it is beyond me. Addiction is a big problem in this country. Have you not seen the obesity rate?

You think Methadone is "help?"

It's just a slightly different drug.
