Easy.

Do you criticize the President and worry about COVID-19?

If the answer is YES you are the deep state.

This is actually quite true. The USA is one of the few countries in the world where your home can be totally confiscated by GOVERNMENT if you do not pay your taxes. Not even Communist Cuba had such a system. There, although private property is radically limited, the State never takes your own home if it is your primary residence unless you move out or sell it illegally. In the "free" USA, if you do not pay taxes the STATE takes your home.

You want free, go live off the grid. Man people are really brainwashed. This is just garbage being spewed at this point.

Free...lol...don't you pay tax and have more than one form of ID? Free. Lol!
I've been saying for a while we are not truly a free country anymore. As for "more than one form of ID", yes and no. I have the ability to live off the grid if I truly wanted and I oppose a national ID card, even though in practice, we already have national IDs. I'd be totally happy off grid if things got really ugly and yes, I have done it before. I do not need even half the stuff most people today yearn for to be happy.

Yup, although technically (at least legally), in the US no person is required to have any form of ID. Granted, your life would be absolutely miserable and extremely difficult for most things, but legally it is not actually a requirement as it is in many other countries.

You are not even required to show ID to a cop in the US unless you are in a situation where you are placed under arrest (under stop and identify law states). In Europe on the other hand, having an ID in and of itself is an actual requirement. Police can arrest you simply for not having an ID card, even if no crime is committed. It is considered an administrative offense in most of continental Europe.

In practice, though, the US makes it nearly impossible to live a normal life without ID.

You can get arrested for not having ID in NYC, it happens all the time. They will take you to the precinct if you don't have ID.

Actually, the article says the exact opposite, although they strongly suggest you should always carry it:

"Many people are surprised to learn that in New York State, you are not legally required to carry any form of identification at any time. That’s right--there is no law that says you need to have i.d. or show i.d. to a police officer. Officers who threaten to arrest you simply for not showing i.d. are trying to intimidate you."

"Nevertheless, it is best to to always carry identification with you. That way, you always have the option of showing i.d. when asked for it."

This article was written in 2007. Maybe it's changed since then?

I don't know, because I always carry ID on me when outside so that I don't even have to worry about being wrongly arrested for not having it.
