Oh this is going to be good!

Time to pack up and move people; if you thought living in market rate building would keep you and your family away from riff-raff; think again....

This is going to be tied up in court for decades, and the city may very well lose.

I have purposely paid market rate rent to avoid living with people on programs, especially Section 8. I can't wait to have enough saved to buy a place. I don't care what condition it is in. I will gut it and make it my own, but I can't imagine paying top dollar and having thugs living next to me as neighbors. Been very lucky to have nice people as neighbors.

I Understand your point! But what I'm saying here is the majority of people with housing vouchers are not plan 8. The majority of people in New York city have the City vouchers and I was asking with all the money problems here in New York city ' I imagine that the money for this program can't last too much longer .

Is this one of those stick a fork in it kinda deals, or is there still several more steps, redtape, and more palms needing grease, before it actually becomes a real rule LL must follow?

Good. They have to stop dumping the poor in certain buildings and certain areas. If they are placed all over maybe the change will get them outta their struggles and they can rise up.

What I dont get is why the welfare is not for purchasing a home as opposed to helping enrich the LL?

Instead of helping people with rent, why not help them with the mortgage? That way, voucher holder has an asset, and therefore better chance of climbing out of poverty.

Ok, I know, that is too far fetched, and one of those when pigs fly possibilities when all hell breaks loose wishful thinking.

You think assigning poor people rich mentors would change them? Maybe one out of ten. What makes you think giving them an apt next to a rich person would change them? Poverty is a mentality where you get everything for free and still complain. For the majority of poor people of course, not all.
